Massage Therapy

Massage Therapy ( 60 min )

Massage therapy is commonly used to relax and rejuvenate tired and sore muscles from jobs, sports and active daily living. It is also an effective treatment for a variety of other complaints including anxiety, depression, pregnancy discomfort, repetitive strain injuries, multiple sclerosis, chronic fatigue, physical rehabilitation and more.

Whether chronic or severe, if someone is tense and needing a release, or they have been injured and have muscle and/or nerve damage that disturbs their entire body, massage therapy may be well worth looking into. Additionally, it may be a preventative measure for potential issues.

Some of the techniques that are used by our RMT’s include:

  • Swedish Techniques
  • Deep Tissue Massage
  • Sports Massage
  • Trigger Point Release
  • Joint Mobilization
  • Active/Passive Stretching
  • Relaxation Massage
  • Neuro-muscular Techniques

Cupping Massage ( 30 min )

Cupping massage is a type of therapy that involves using cups, typically made of glass or plastic, to create suction on the skin. The cups are placed on the skin and then suction is created by either heating the air inside the cup or using a vacuum pump. The suction pulls the skin and underlying tissue into the cup, creating a vacuum-like effect.

Cupping massage is often used to help relieve muscle tension and pain, improve circulation, and reduce inflammation. It is also believed to have a detoxifying effect on the body by stimulating the lymphatic system.

While cupping massage can be effective for some people, it is not suitable for everyone. It may not be appropriate for people with certain skin conditions, such as eczema or psoriasis, or for those who are pregnant or have a bleeding disorder. It is important to consult with a healthcare provider before trying cupping massage or any other new therapy.

Deep Tissue Massage ( 60 min )

Deep tissue massage is a type of massage therapy that uses deeper pressure and slower strokes to target the inner layers of muscles and connective tissues. It is typically used to help relieve chronic tension and muscular pain, as well as to promote relaxation and improved range of motion.

Deep tissue massage can be beneficial for a range of conditions, including chronic pain, injury rehabilitation, and stress relief.

However, it may not be appropriate for everyone, especially those with certain medical conditions or injuries. It’s important to consult with a healthcare provider before getting a deep tissue massage, and to communicate any concerns or discomfort with the massage therapist during the session.

Relaxation Massage ( 60 min )

A relaxation massage is a type of massage therapy that aims to promote relaxation and reduce stress in the body. This type of massage typically involves using long, smooth strokes, kneading, and circular movements on the topmost layer of muscles. The pressure used during a relaxation massage is generally lighter than that used during a deep tissue massage, which is focused on addressing specific areas of tension in the body.

Benefits of a relaxation massage may include reduced muscle tension, improved circulation, and increased feelings of calm and relaxation. It can also help to reduce anxiety and improve sleep quality. However, it’s important to note that a relaxation massage is not a substitute for medical treatment or therapy for any underlying physical or mental health conditions.

Percussive (Vibration) Therapy (30 min)

Post-workout recovery and rest days are necessary because your body needs time to regenerate itself and build the muscle you’ve earned from your workouts. Part of the recovery process includes eating well, getting plenty of sleep and giving your sore muscles some TLC (tender loving care). Using a massage gun can be a helpful addition to your cooldown routine.

Massage guns use percussive therapy, a form of soft tissue massage that uses vibrations to relieve muscle tension. Percussive therapy relieves aches, sore muscles, knots, tension and other pains. People who have labor-intensive jobs and those who work on their feet all day or spend many hours at a desk job can benefit from percussive therapy, too.

The benefits of using a massage gun may include:

1. Increased circulation: The rapid pulses of pressure can help to stimulate blood flow, delivering oxygen and nutrients to the muscles and other tissues.

2. Pain relief: Massage guns can help to alleviate muscle soreness and stiffness, as well as reduce the perception of pain.

3. Improved range of motion: By targeting tight or stiff muscles, massage guns can help to increase flexibility and range of motion.

4. Faster recovery: Massage guns can be used to help speed up recovery from exercise or injury by increasing blood flow and reducing muscle tension.

5. Relaxation: Many people find that using a massage gun can be a relaxing and stress-relieving experience, helping to reduce tension and promote overall well-being.

It’s important to note that while massage guns can be a helpful tool for promoting muscle health and recovery, they should not be used as a replacement for medical treatment for any injuries or conditions. If you have any concerns about using a massage gun, it’s always best to speak with a healthcare professional first.
